Dancing with our stars!

Asher and Leila started dancing together tonight! They had a blast and ended up falling on the floor over and over, but they are trying. Leila crawled up on the chair today and watched Praise Baby while I cooked today. It left me asking, "What happened to my baby?". She is growing up way too fast!

The Fair & a Fire

We took the kids to the fair tonight. They had a lot of fun. Asher even rode the train by himself. Leila loved the Old McDonald farm and wanted to touch everything! Everyone loved their little hats. When we decided to leave, we noticed flames and smoke in the sky. I knew immediately it was coming from the area where we parked our van. Tyler thought it was further away. As we got closer, the smoke was so thick that we started to cough. The emergency personnel were keeping people from entering the parking lot we parked in! They asked if we had parked in the lot because they were getting people's cars for them. When we told them that we had and where our van was parked, they told Tyler that they weren't going that close and they hope we didn't have anything personal in our van. Apparently, the apartments right next to where we parked (no further than 10 feet from our car) had caught on fire. So, after being a little frantic and waiting for 2 hours, we got our van and an incident report. It doesn't appear to have any damage. It is extremely smelly on the inside and we hope the smoke smell isn't true damage. Also, it got quite a bath of water, leaves, and soot from the fire and water hoses! Poor Asher thinks everything happens to cars....he says our car was on fire! It does smell like it has been. We smelled like we had too! We even had some soot on us when we got home. Anyways, always eventful with us!

Our man village

Asher loves the Jungle Book and the Jungle Book II! In fact, he has renamed our entire family characters from the movie. This is Asher giving Baloo a big man cub kiss at lunch. Asher is Mowgli...of course. He calls our home the man village. So, here is what is new in the man village. Asher likes wearing Tyler's(Baloo's) shirts to bed. They look so stinkin' cute on him! Leila has discovered Elmo and says his name. She says El-, pause for 5 seconds, -MO. It's pretty cute and so girly. Our little man cubs are starting to bicker a bit and claim things as "mine".

Saved my life!

Asher and I had a funny conversation on Friday. It followed an incident at the mall food court where we saw a mouse. I told Asher that the mouse would bite his toes if he got down. After his nap, he wanted to talk to about the mouse. Here is how it went:
Asher: Momma, that mouse didn't bite my toes. It is a good mouse. I need to give it a hug and a kiss.
Me: Asher, you can't kiss mice. That mouse would bite you because he is afraid of you.
Asher: Because I am a giant to him?
Me: Yes, because you are a giant.
Copper jumped up onto the arm of the couch. Asher started to pet Copper.
Me: Asher, did you know that kitty cats eat those bad mice?
Asher: He will saved my life! Thank you, battle cat!
I thought it was precious! Leila loves animals and will probably try to kiss a mouse someday b/c she isn't as easily convinced by what we say.

The fall is almost here!

The beautiful weather is a reminder that the fall is coming! We love fall at our home and have enjoyed decorating for it. Yesterday, we enjoyed some backyard play time (even Copper/Battle Cat joined in) and today, we went to the park. The kids loved sliding and climbing the stairs. Leila just enjoyed walking around. We even treated daddy to lunch! That was a treat seeing him midday and further proof that the new job is good. Leila has identified her favorite baby doll. She kisses and rocks it. She carries it around as she tottles around the house. I love it and am excited to see her get excited for girl toys. Leila is such a loving child and gives her love freely. I think she will be an amazing mommy someday! I just pray that God puts the right friends and fellows in her path to protect that free loving spirit from being broken. Speaking of fellows...I am so thankful for Tyler. He is a great husband and daddy. I am thankful that God put him in my life to protect my heart from being broken. Yesterday, he was teaching Sunday school and was saying that we should be proud to be Americans. Also, we are blessed to be Southern Americans where it is the norm to be an evangelical christian. It is the norm to take our precious babies to worship the Lord! AMEN! I love that God made me to live right here and love this wonderful family and serve him and I feel overcome. I am so thankful that my dream is exactly what God has given me. I am so thankful and unworthy. I am so happy! Happy for everything....happy that the fall is here too!

10 year high school reunion!

Well our 10 year high school reunion is in 2 weeks and I am excited! It really doesn't seem like 10 years ago that the most important thing on our agendas was homework, who we were playing in football or basketball, or which dress to pick for homecoming or prom. We were fortunate enough to have a great high school experience and blessed enough to find each other (we didn't know it would be for forever back then!). It is fun to look back at ourselves 10-12 years ago, and sad to see how much we have aged! I do sometimes miss the slumber parties, dance camps, and excitement leading up to graduation. I do not want to go back though! I think high school has changed for teenagers now days. We do keep in touch with our high school friends and so it won't be a big surprise but still it will be fun!
