American Idol

So, we have started to watch American Idol and actually watched from the beginning this season. My least favorite idol....Adam! I literally can't stand to watch him sing. And last night, no exception! Seriously, can you even call it Johnny Cash? However, it did make me one proud girl to be from the south and a huge fan of country music when Mr. Randy Travis was left speechless! Adam's performance was totally grotesque! Simon even told Adam that people all across the south were probably throwing their televisions outside! (Maybe not exact words but something like that) I sure wanted to but we did just get our tv and Tyler waited quite a while to fill the space we built for it....I may get thrown outside for doing something like that. Smile!

Early Birthday Celebration
A little boy at our house will be turning 3 next week and Papa Jean will be out of town. So, we had an early celebration before he left. Asher loved the diego megablock set and dragon! Papa received a mighty big squeeze for picking out such great gifts! Hey, Leila got a little something from Papa too! What a great Papa we have! We love you.

Hot Springs
We took the kids for a little spring kickoff getaway to Hot Springs. We started with a trip to the alligator farm. Tyler used to visit this place when he was small. Asher wasn't gonna touch the alligator....Leila grabbed it's tail and twisted! Then, Asher got to have his picture made with a big bad wolf! A mountain lion in a cage was stalking Leila and I didn't like it very much at all! Then, we had dinner with some friends from pharmacy school. After dinner, we took the kids to play pirate putt-putt. Asher loves golf! The fact that it was pirate themed just made it much more exciting! Saturday, we woke up and shopped a little and Tyler took Asher to the horse races. Asher was so excited that he sang "We will rock you" all the way back to the car. I don't know why he sang that song? Leila had fallen asleep in the car and so we headed on to Little Rock. After shopping for a short while we decided that the kids had had all the fun they could handle. We did get to stop in Russellville to meet Tuta, Rick, Whit, and Michael for burgers though. Once we got home, the kids were so happy. I think we have two little homebodies on their hands. Hmmmm, where do they get being that way? Let's just say it's not Tyler.

Leila gets burned
Asher and Leila woke up with a cold...again! Leila was crying for me to hold her while I was finishing cooking sausage. She was trying to reach up to me and touched the cooktop. Poor little angel! The doctor wanted to see her immediately. So, now she has her little hand wrapped. Hopefully this will make her feel better...she is being super angry today. He said her burn isn't too bad and shouldn't blister much. I feel so sorry for her. Also, he confirmed that it is time to find a real bed. I can't believe my baby doesn't need her crib anymore. This is all passing too quickly. He did say we would have to find a baby gate to block her doorway that she couldn't climb over. He said we need to try to avoid her waking up and trying to cook at night. We don't want anymore burns!
We're in trouble now!
Last night, Leila woke up (an everynight thing) in the middle of the night crying for me. Recently, we broke her from her bottle thinking that may help make her sleep through the night. No such luck! She continues to wake up asking for a baby or a cup of milk or just screaming for no apparent reason. So, everyone has been encouraging me to let her cry it out. I was so tired last night and decided to do just that. First, I tried to rock her back to sleep but she just kicked and screamed and through babies and cups across the room. So, with that behavior I decided to just let her cry it out. After about 1 1/2 hours of crying, I noticed that the crying was getting louder. I jumped out of bed to find Leila standing in the living room! The little stinker had climbed out of her baby bed when I didn't come back. So much for crying herself back to sleep. I should have known that my children are not going to be the conventional type. What will work for everyone else never works for us! UGH! So, know I have an 18 mth old that still wakes up through the night AND climbs out of her baby bed. Leave it to Leila to take care of herself! So, I guess this means it is time for a real bed? Also, if anyone has any ideas of how to keep this child from taking her diaper off time after time....let me know. We have a streaker on our hands! Oh, we've tried pullups and she can get those off too.

Sunny Sunday and Matilda Jane
It was a beautiful sunny Sunday today! It was a little chilly but still beautiful! After church, I snapped some quick pics of my two favorite little people. Then, I headed to a Matilda Jane trunk show where I purchased too much for Leila to wear. I couldn't help myself....the stuff is soooo stinkin' cute!
Our Knight in Shining Armor
Asher is our knight in shining armor and he loves to dress up to show us how he can slay dragons. We had dinner with Roger, Gina, and Haley last night b/c Haley came in from "pollege" to see Asher and Leila. They had a good time and Asher even stayed the night with Gigi and Haley. While we were there, I got this cute pic of Tyler and his momma! It's a good reminder that even at almost 30 yrs. old we are always our momma's babies! Thank God for Gina and my mom....two exceptionally wonderful moms! We love you both so much!
