Sweet, sweet song

Tonight, I listened to my eldest son sing this song with his sweet voice. He learned it in music class at school and was excited to share it with me. It was a treasured moment. Today, I helped at the school for an hour. An educator had a note waiting for me. The note praised Asher for being well-mannered and considerate of others, it also praised our parenting. It was a very thoughtful note and I'm so thankful that the teacher took the time to share with me. I need to remember to take time to bless others with kind words too. "Arkansas (you run deep in me)" by Wayland Holyfield Verse 1: October morning in the Ozark Mountains, Hills ablazing like that sun in the sky. I fell in love there and the fire's still burning A flame that will never die. Chorus: Oh, I may wander, but when I do I will never be far from you. You're in my blood and I know you'll always be. Arkansas, you run deep in me. Verse 2: Moonlight dancing on a delta levee, To a band of frogs and whippoorwill I lost my heart there one July evening And it's still there, I can tell. Verse 3: Magnolia blooming, Mama smiling, Mallards sailing on a December wind. God bless the memories I keep recalling Like an old familiar friend. Verse 4: And there's a river rambling through the fields and valleys, Smooth and steady as she makes her way south, A lot like the people whose name she carries. She goes strong and she goes proud.

Weekend wrap up

Everything is in bloom and beautiful! Cal sat at the picnic table with the big kids tonight. He thought he was a "big dog" and is apparently a big ham too! ;) Caroline wasn't feeling well during all the fun...she was in the playpen snoozing.

The end

Today was a sad day. Our baby swing held her last baby for the last time. Our little "tank" was too much for her to handle and she finally had to let go. Thankfully, he wasn't hurt when she fell, but he was a little scared. Bless his heart! He has loved every second he spent cradled in that swing. Actually, every one of our children, with the exception of Leila, has loved that swing. It's a little sad to see it broken down in a pile for the dump. I guess time marches on, but it sure is bittersweet closing this baby chapter in our lives.

Color Run

I ran my 1st 5k this weekend... I had such a good time at this event! What an exciting run for our 1st 5k. I'm so thankful that I was able to share this experience with my sweet cousin too! We had some good "mommy time" while we were away. Apparently, I gained a nickname too..."Daddy Long Legs". Ha! I guess it's better than "Slow Poke" or "Turtle". :) We ate dinner at 4:30! LOL! It was nice to enjoy a dinner, only feeding our own mouths. Then, we had some shopping time. Thanks to my momma for getting me some new shoes! These were our reward for all of our hard work. The morning of the 5k was gorgeous running weather, and I saw lots of familiar faces. The run was pretty quick and I'm pleased to say that we ran the entire time! The after party/color toss was wild. When we threw the color into the air and it came down on us, it was like being in a dark rainbow cloud. It was tough to catch your breath and I could barely see who was standing next to me. After a good loooonng shower, we headed back home. Thanks to everyone that sent encouraging words and Tyler for keeping the kiddos so that I could go. Jennifer, it was so fun! I love you, thanks for sharing this experience with me!

Today, I gardened with my girl. We picked some collards. The broccoli, cabbage, and lettuce are so close. The blackberries are flowering. Tonight, I chased the twins around the ball field while Asher practiced. He hit his first home run....he hit it off of the pitching machine too! He said we needed to write this down in the record books, so I am! Hopefully, we can make another documentation this season for his first home run during a game. I came home tonight and tucked all of my babies into their beds and prayed with them. I can't put into words how incredibly thankful I am that God has given me, at least, this day to be their mother. To fully enjoy their excited voices, their smiles, their little arms around my neck, and the sweet smell of their hair. Praying for the families at the Boston Marathon. Praying without ceasing for great revival and that God will reign over our land again!

Our full weekend

We had a weekend full of friends, family, gardening, and good times! Friday night, we had high school friends over for a cookout. We feasted and fellowshipped. Kate (1 month younger than the twins) loved hanging out with Asher, and Eli had fun playing with Leila. Saturday, we went to a crawfish boil at the Sharbono's. Thank you to Mom for keeping the twins and Nana for keeping the big kids. Tyler and I really enjoyed sitting and visiting with our friends. However, it did seem a little strange not chasing little munchkins around. The mudbugs were so tasty....can't wait until next year! Today, I spent lots of time just looking at my four babies. My babies aren't babies anymore. (Tear) They are so loving and special in their own unique ways. I feel so blessed to be their momma. I'd live with them this age for the rest of my days! Tonight, we painted rocks to decorate our flower beds. A and L had lots of fun creating their masterpieces. I painted the rainbow rock for Cal and Caroline. It was a great weekend, filled with many blessings of all sorts!
