Nostalgia

Let me just tell you how fun and satisfying it is cooking on my new (new to me b/c of the house....actually old) gas stove. It reminds me of my granny and makes our food taste so much better! (SMILE) It does heat our kitchen up pretty quickly but it is totally worth the sweat. Also, we have been cooking the fresh veggies that we grew.....awesome! I think I'm hooked on this gardening and cooking thing. I know, I know, I am an old soul at heart!

Happy Father's Day

Okay, so I know there are a lot of pics on this post but I didn't want to leave anyone out. Haley and Gina....we'll have to get pics on the next go round. Leila was ready for a nap and not participating in picture taking after dinner. We had a wonderful father's day. Mom had a fish fry for everyone and we enjoyed lots of good food and fellowship. We have some great dad's, papa's, pop's, etc. in our family and it was good to have a special day for them. Tyler, you can't possible imagine how thankful I/we are that you are ours! You are such a wonderful husband and father. You provide for our family and we appreciate all of your hard work. We feel so secure in the presence of your love. You crack us up and keep a smile on our faces....you are so much fun. Most of all, you are a godly man and I am so thankful for the example you are for our children. Someday, they will be thankful too! I'm so lucky to have such a handsome, sweet father for my children. We love you to pieces!

Satisfied

I was so worried about how the kids would adapt to their new home....God knew better! I was worried if I would be sad leaving the house that we brought our children home from the hospital....God knew better! Maybe he is trying to show me that home is not about the house you live in! It is such a wonderful feeling knowing that you are right in the spot that God wants you to be! We love our new home and I feel so thankful, happy, and satisfied! We are praying for a quick sale of our old house but trust that God is working that out too. We all feel very "at home" here and are settling in. Tonight, I was swinging the kids in the backyard and our neighbors came over to meet us. The breeze was gently blowing and the fireflies were lighting up and the kids were laughing as they swang....I felt so blessed and know that this is exactly where God wants me to be. I always worry about everything but God always takes care of me!

Ma-ma's birthday celebration

We celebrated Ty's grandmother's birthday yesterday and the kids had fun playing with her and their Tu-ta and Uncle Rick. Asher was even sporting the new shirt that Tu-ta and Rick brought him....this is his funny face! Ma-ma, we are so glad that we got to celebrate with you and enjoy you being a part of our lives. Tyler has so many happy memories spent on the farm with you and Grandaddy! We wish we had some chocolate fried pies right now! We love you! Also, on a side note, Asher has been singing this line of a song, "Ain't no home like the home you got!". I'm not sure where he heard it but it's adorable and I totally agree. I love our home, our church, our family, our friends, and our workplaces. We are soooo blessed!

Happy Birthday G!

Sweet girl G celebrated her birthday with a Hello Kitty bday party at Chuck-e-Cheese. I think Leila decided where she wants her 2nd bday! She loved Chuck-E the mouse and wearing G's birthday crown. Asher has loved G since he was a baby and still does to this day. Thanks for inviting us....we had fun and love seeing you grow into a beautiful girl!

Whoa Momma! Look at those veggies!

Our first produce from our garden! Tonight, Mike, Emily, the kids, and Tyler and I picked even more produce! This is soooo fun! Also, it is a beautiful thing seeing your children bonding with other little children. Asher declared S his best buddy b/c he is sooo funny and silly!

Superhero Day

We took the kids to superhero day at Chick-fil-A this past weekend. Asher met another spiderman friend. Leila loved on the spiderman!

Playing catch up!

Well, we are finally back in business with internet. The move had us down for a while. There are quite a few new posts to catch everyone up on what we've been doing....besides painting and moving stuff. Our other house is still for sale if you know anyone interested!

How our garden grows!

Our garden was in need of some TLC. So, Tuesday night we took a break from moving and spent some time nurturing it. M brought a really sharp hoe and got out all the weeds. Then, we put down some cottonseed hulls to keep them from coming back so quickly. We staked our tomato plants (it's a good thing with the winds we've had from the storms) and fertilized everything. Asher is such a good helper and really works while he is there....such a natural farmer. I think he'd make my great grandpa and Ty's granddaddy so proud! Leila plays in the dirt most of the time. She also picks our veggies before they are ready. M cut a green tomato for her to examine and she ate it! Such a true southern girl! I love it! Anyways, our garden is producing so well and we are so excited to harvest the fruits of our labor. I'm hoping that Asher will be excited for his veggies since he grew them....we'll see!

Our new home!

We're in our new home! We love it and Asher has had fun entertaining the service men with knight tales and showing off his collection of swords and shields. Fun times!

Leila loves the clubhouse!

Leila loves Mickey Mouse Clubhouse! She can even count to 8 from watching their tv show....I know, I know, I'm teaching my child with tv....bad mom! Anyways, we had to visit the Disney store while we were in Tulsa. She didn't care about going inside.....something caught her attention at the entrance!

Tulsa....girls trip...and babies!

<
Mom, Nana, and I took the kids to Tulsa to the aquarium and for an overnight trip while Tyler was in Chicago. We had a wonderful time and the kids were spoiled by grandmas.....of course!

All is well!

Tonight, all is well. The kids are snuggled into their beds (well, Asher is in ours) and everything is as usual. I am trying to soak in this last normal night in this house. Tomorrow, we will break down furniture and sleep on matresses on the floor.....it will be chaotic. Saturday, we will sleep in our new home. But tonight, I am enjoying my first home and the home I brought both of my wonderful babies home. I am soaking up the memories b/c I will remember them but not sit in the same room they occured. I'll think of Asher and Leila's faces as they took their first steps across the carpet, and the nursery I spent and spend many nights awake. I'll remember the way the living room looked with a playpen and a swing. The breakfast area with the little wooden highchair. The way I felt so blessed the first night we slept in this house. Yes, God has been so good to us while we have been in this home. Asher feels safe in the protection of it's brick walls (he's scared of the big bad wolf!)....our new house is brick too! Anyways, we are excited and sad to go. Asher had a minor meltdown tonight about not wanting to leave. He said that he didn't want the new house and he wanted to pick this one up and put it next to the new one. I told him that this house was glued down. His reply, "unstick it". Well, I wish that was possible! We have showed it twice this week and pray that it will become someone else's home soon. Tonight, however, it is ours!

Moving!

We are right in the big middle of moving. We have been cleaning and painting until late at night and working during the days. So, if we haven't returned phone calls....I hope life will be back to normal after the weekend.
