One Year, Two Year, Lots of Fun

We went to Russellville last night to celebrate a special girl's 2nd birthday. Her mommy worked really hard on her rainbow party and it was lots of fun! All of the kids loved the rainbow balloons!
Happy Birthday sweet girl! Today, I took the twins for their 1 year checkup (it's a month after their 1st birthday because they are gestationaly 1 year old now) and shots. They are doing great. Here's how they measure up: Callum: Weight 26 lb. 9 oz. (Asher weighed about this much at 20 months) Height 32" (also the tallest kid of ours at this point) Head 99% (all those brains!) You are walking but prefer to crawl because you are faster. You take about 4 steps and then clap for yourself. You aren't as verbal as Caroline but you are very interactive. You aren't very fond of strangers at this point. No luck in the church nursery yet! ;) You wave bye bye to people when you want their attention. You love praise baby and playing with toys. Caroline: Weight 22 lbs. 3 oz. (about 2 lbs more than Leila at this point) Height 31" (same as Leila at this point) Head 98% (we make some big headed children!) You are also walking but prefer to crawl. You are fast and steady with both. You are very verbal. You love to talk and try to mimic anything we say. You are frightened of strangers at first but warm up quickly. You love praise baby but we can't keep you confined in anything. You are a magician escaper. You love to pretend to ride the horsey on our leg. You love babies!

Anything cuter?

Is there anything cuter than two little baby bottoms?! We may have had one little accident while taking these photos. ;)

Around here

So many things this summer are bringing memories of my childhood....like this concrete tunnel at the park.
The kids went crazy for a Hershey bar!
I can't keep this girl anywhere. Life is busy! Screaming baby calls!

It's great to be a kid!

We had snow cones today and the kids picked out their own outfits! (Notice the boots are on the wrong feet. He! He!)
Then, Leila played dress up. She was Crumbs Sugar Cookie, so naturally Caroline was Spice Sprinkle Cookie. I think Caroline was wondering what had happened to Leila's hair!
Leila wanted a photo session and picked her own poses! ;) (Had to have a little fun jumping on the bed too!)
Asher was super excited because we rearranged his room. It became a cool new place to play his ds. It's great to be a kid....especially in the summertime! Love my sweets!

Sunflowers

We finally have one!

Peach festival

Despite the lack of peach ice cream, or any other peaches for that matter, we had a good start to the weekend with Grandpa and Lala at the peach festival. It was a scorcher and we had one minor outfit dilemma thanks to a spilled slushy, but the kids had fun. Grandpa and Lala treated them to a present, their pick. Leila chose a stuffed sparkly rainbow snake and Asher chose a black stuffed dragon. Thanks to Grandpa and Lala for a fun morning and lunch!

Trout fishing

We went up the mountain this weekend to Mt. View. We went with Mom and Dad as a chance to celebrate mom's birthday a little different this year! Friday night, Dad and Tyler grilled us some wonderful steaks and boudain. I picked up some green tomatoes in town and mom cooked up some fried green tomatoes and okra. I baked mom a carrot cake for her birthday dinner too. It was a great night that ended with a late night movie while relaxing in the cabin. Saturday, we went shopping at the square. Tyler bought Asher a slingshot. It is carved to look like a bear and is pretty awesome. Afterwards, we took a short nap at the cabin. Then, we headed up to Mirror Lake to do some trout fishing and exploring. The kids had a blast! Tyler and Papa were able to help Asher and Leila catch their first ever rainbow trouts. They were biting like crazy! Asher and the men brought a couple back to the cabin and Asher had his first lesson in cleaning a fish. :) Nanny fried Asher's fresh catch for his taste test. Verdict.....Asher loves trout! I thought it was pretty tasty too. Thanks to them for granting a little boy's wishes to bring home and cook his first fish! Overall, we had a wonderful trip to the cabin. I'm so thankful that we got to enjoy the weekend with my parents too. I love making great family memories! Side note: I was pretty tired last night from travel but I have a few more things to say about Mt. View. On the way up, we stopped at Clinton. They have an ice cream place in a gas station there that has my favorite pralines and cream ice cream. I decided to get a second scoop and try their butter pecan. Just the taste of that ice cream took me back to a sweet time of my childhood....eating butter pecan ice cream with my Papa. Neopolitan ice cream makes me think of my Main Man and Little Granny, so does cream filled cookies dunked in coffee. ;) I love those little reminders of happy times with loving people. While I watched the kids with my parents this weekend, and when I watch them with their other grandparents too, it reminds me of something very important. Growing up, I never lacked for love. Not one day did I feel unloved. That is way more than most people can say and I'm thankful that my children should never feel unloved either. They are immensely loved by us and many others. I'm so thankful!
