Hello Fall

The air is starting to whisper hints of fall!

September so far...

Sibling love, Wal-Mart fun (in our pj's) while daddy was resting at home from some overnight work, and school pics. I had a dr's appt. today and was diagnosed with vertigo. Fun times!

Deep in the heart of Texas

Tyler and I took an adults only trip to Texas last week. It was our first getaway (for multiple nights)in 8 years! It was incredible! Thanks Gigi, Pop, Nanny, Papa, and Nana for entertaining our munchkins while we were gone. We sure are blessed to have y'all in our life! This time was very special to us! First, a must stop along the way.

Stopped in Waco to check out this store. We love Fixer Upper on HGTV! Found a Coke with my name at the gas station there.

On to Austin for two nights. We had dinner with some great friends! Love catching up with them!

We stayed at the Austin Motel. Our little hobbit hole. It was a great location with very nice staff. It was so fun eating whenever and wherever we wanted. Torchy's tacos…yum! Strolling down the streets and shopping in some of the weird and funky shops. Listening to the band at the Continental Club. We worked in a little kayaking on the river too.

We wanted to go tubing on the Guadalupe River on Friday but the water levels were too low. Oh well, gotta go back another time! We changed course and went for a visit to the Shiner brewery. It was really neat! Afterwards, we made a pit stop in San Marcos for some outlet mall shopping. I scored two pair of jeans for the price of one with my birthday $!

Then, on to Wimberley! We stayed in the Dixie Daisy, the cutest vintage airstream trailer. It was a little piece of paradise! They had quite the cd collection. We enjoyed the tunes of Old Crow Medicine Show and the Carolina Chocolate Drops during our stay. The gracious hosts even delivered fresh eggs and fresh ground coffee in the morning. Such thoughtful touches!

We decided to head down to Gruene, Texas to have dinner and go to the Gruene Dance Hall. Everyone should have this on their bucket list. So. Much. Fun! The town is very picturesque! The dance hall is said to be the oldest dance hall in Texas. It is darling! Lots of boot scootin' and the folks were very friendly. We met a couple touring the States from Cornwall, England. It added a little bit more fun to our visit. They were very entertained with the dancing and music. They had never heard good ole' Texas honky tonk country. The band was amazing! Warren Hood band….you should check them out! Let me just say, Tyler was hesitant to dance but once he decided to boogie, he really showed out. Our dance ended with a dip and a kiss! Ha! Great memories!

The next morning, we went to a local bakery and enjoyed some of the BEST pastries that I have ever eaten! Then, we visited Blue Hole. Now, I was VERY excited to visit Blue Hole. It was the reason for our trip down to Wimberely. Southern Living magazine did an article on some of the best swimming holes and it was featured. I would have been terribly disappointed if we had missed this gem. It was gorgeous and wonderful and perfect! It made me feel like a little child again. The area is clean, a great place for families to visit. The nice man at the welcome center even let us in 10 minutes early, which meant we had 30 minutes of rope swingin' fun before the crown arrived! The water was oh so cool and refreshing! Definitely coming back with the munchkins.

We saw a few impressive deer walking across the road. These are for you Asher. We visited Jacob's Well. Some people jump into the narrow opening….not this person! The bacteria levels prevented any entry on this particular day. Jacob's Well is also an underwater cave. People have lost their lives cave diving in this area. Sounds pretty creepy to me. However, it was pretty cool to see. Apparently, next summer, you will have to schedule your visit to this area. It's only been open to the public for two years and this summer it saw an average of 700 people a weekend. It's not a large enough area for that #. Growing pains!

Back to the trailer for a little football watching and relaxation. Hammock time!
